| Tommy wins fourth National title |
Tommy has won his fourth national title of his career. In the final of the National Championships Tommy beat Laurens Jan Anjema in a very hard fought match. In a completely packed Frans Otten Stadion, filled with more than 1000 people, Tommy lost the first game 9-3, before bouncing back to win the next three games 9-4, 9-0, 9-6.
After a long first game Tommy took control of the match, twisting and turning LJ constantly forcing Laurens Jan to hit weak shots, which Tommy could punish. In the fourth game Laurens Jan took a 6-2 lead, but Tommy managed to stage a comeback to clinch the title in a 1 hour and 50 minute match.
'I am very happy to have won my fourth national title. The court was very hot and bouncy which allowed us to retrieve almost every shot. This made the match very tough, but I felt in control for most of the match. I managed to keep the ball very tight and I had good touch on my shots. Overall it was just a great match to be part off and I am sure that everybody thoroughly enjoyed the match.' |
